The Singaraja District Court in Bali has sentenced Australian Philip Robert to serve eight years in jail for engaging in pedophile acts, tempointeraktif.com reports. During Robert’s trial Thursday, judge Frida Ariyani said the court had found the 61-year-old defendant guilty of sexually violating dozens of teenagers in Singaraja. The case unfolded when local police received reports from some of the abuse victims in August last year. The court said Robert, who has been living in Singaraja since 1999, was luring the teenagers by inviting them to play billiards at his home. He would then give them between Rp 25,000 (US$2.2) and Rp 30,000 for any child who was willing to perform oral sex. Robert said he would file an appeal against the verdict.
